Highgate Men’s Pond is located on the East Side of Hampstead Heath, near Millfield Lane. There is over 150 years of documented swimming here.
The Highgate Men’s Pond Association (HMPA) is an independent group of volunteers who care about the pond and advocate for swimmers' interests.
We are separate from the Corporation of London who manage Hampstead Heath and the ponds.
Our main aims are:
• To promote the interests of all users of the Pond, whether swimmers or non-swimmers.
• To represent users’ views to the authority responsible for Hampstead Heath.
• To resist the creeping commercialisation of the Pond, in particular the idea that this centuries-old public space should become access controlled with a compulsory fee.
• To cooperate with staff in the proper running and maintenance of the Pond so that it continues to be a quiet, peaceful place to bathe, swim and relax.
